The highlight of the house is intricately carved plasterwork, which is original and required little restoration. Our small dar also features handmade zellij mosaic floors, painted ceilings and shutters, massharabi paneling, natural cedar windows and doors, several stained glass windows, and a large rooftop terrace. Simple decorations, antique textiles and handmade furniture accent the architectural features of the house.
Old & new, in perfect harmony
Old zellij, freshly laid following original patterns, unifies the overall design of the house on all four floors, while new plasterwork complements the old. Moroccan couches, lighting fixtures, and closets fronted with antique doors were made to order.
Two kitchens provide stovetop cooking on the ground floor and in the roof-top menzeh. Dar Borj Dahab is fully stocked with linens, dinnerware, cutlery and cooking utensils, and fans.
